Libraries love us without a doubt. When you walk into a library everyone is welcome, there's room for anyone who needs a place.

Libraries also need our love.

LOLA - the Love Our Library Alliance is being formed as a long-term network and means for local community political advocacy.

LOLA is for a Community-Led Library Development

LOLA is focused on raising awareness and garnering support for local libraries. LOLA is dedicated to advocating for the expansion and improvement of library services and facilities, ultimately working towards a community-led transformation of any participating local library system.

LOLA Designed for Establishment Into Local Chapters

One of the key ways LOLA will engage with the community is through social gatherings and programs designed to connect residents who share a love for the libraries. LOLA gatherings will model the Community-Led Library based on the Community-Led Libraries Toolkit, developed by Vancouver Public Library and which includes this guide on their website.

Ultimately, LOLA is designed to grow and include any local library that needs support by establishing chapters by local community residents and member volunteers. Currently, our first focus is on developing a LOLA chapter for the City of Fremont in Alameda County California.

Fremont's Libraries are in deep need of a rebuilding and expansion! The reality is a decades (30 years) long historical need for expanded library services for all Fremont residents, in all areas of Fremont, the fourth largest city in the Bay Area.

To further expand its reach and impact, LOLA is introducing an online sign-up form here. By filling out this form, individuals can join the alliance and stay informed about upcoming events and initiatives that support Fremont libraries. The form collects contact information to facilitate ongoing communication and engagement with the community.

By uniting with LOLA, you'll have the opportunity to actively contribute to the growth and improvement of the libraries in your local community. Together, we can work towards creating a strong and vibrant library system that serves the needs of all residents.
